From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect learning which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
