AC Shadows Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that breaks traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Mission Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of forbidden practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The narrative features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret sect.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Features
Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe

Latest Free Story Update
This update also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
